In Nieuwegein TCN is developing in two phases a new entrance area for the St. Antonius Hospital. The new area, called The Red Carpet (phase 1), should accomplish a warm welcome to all visitors and staff of the hospital. One of the challenges is to show customers that hospitals can be highly professional as well can be very accessible and well designed.
Size:
The projects first phase consists of approximately 4.000 m2 BVO. The entrance area will consists of a central space with retail and care related tenants on both sides.
The final design has been approved by the building committee and currently the planning application is being submitted. The construction will take place from September 2008 and the delivery of the project to its tenants is planned in January 2009.

Challenges:
There are two major challenges. The most important challenge is to create an environment with a warm welcome, which also shows the highly professional organisation of the hospital. The second big challenge is the time element. The entrance area is being realised in a very short time frame, because it must be finished in January 2009 when the parking garage is being opened.
The making of:
De Jong Gortemaker Algra Architects from Rotterdam have been selected to design the entrance area. TCN is responsible for the concept development, marketing and realization.
Care
Tenants:
The entrance area will consists of a central space with retail and care related tenants on both sides. Vermaat with it's store, but also other retailers as hair cutters, book stores, pharmacy and a food court will play a specific role in this area
Property Management:
The St. Antonius Hospital provides various services and facilities for it's tenants. TCN will support the Hospital with knowledge en expertise of mall management.
Broker:
VP&A advises and assists TCN to find the best-matching tenants for the entrance area of the St. Antonius Hospital.
