Since 2006 TCN owns the Spaanse Kubus. The buildings main use is data center. A data center is a conditioned space where ICT-equipment can be stored, activated and connected. Key factors are reliable power, cooling, connections and space. TCN supplies space and energy. We have estimated that there is still 5.000 sqm of data center floor space demand in Rotterdam.

Besides the data center use, the building has a lot of abundant space; to be exact almost 20.000 sqm in total. This space is very attractive to small sized (data center related) companies looking for flexible fresh office and storage space.

Make
The space to realize 5.000 sqm of additional data center floor and the required energy capacity will be made available in the next two years. We expect to let the data center space in the next two – three years.

We have developed the simple space concept to realize 10.000 sqm of this type of space in the next two years. The data center produces a lot of heat. This heat will be re-used to warm the simple space. This year we will launch a pilot for simple space and we expect to fully let the simple space in the next two – three years.

Care
Our own TCN team is responsible for the complete management and development of the Spaanse Kubus. We also have the expertise and people available to fully develop and realize new data center floor space.

More about platform and product
A data center is a place which supplies Energy, Cooling and Connections to ICT companies. In the data center users are able to place their IT equipment, connect with each other and connect to the internet. The data center provides a good, reliable and secure service to the user in accordance with the conditions defined in the co-location agreement. TCN has besides Telehouse Groningen also other data centers, for example Spaanse Kubus Rotterdam, Telehouse Groningen and Telehouse Eemsdelta. With a rapid growing demand for data center capacity the coming decades data centers are becoming very attractive to invest in.

To meet this growing demand TCN is expanding their data center capacity. Therefore the platform invites partners to join this expansion, share the knowledge and develop and manage together. Possible partners on this platform are technical, installation, equity and ICT partners. Partnerships are possible on project or on an overall level. TCN data centers will fulfill the role of organizer within the platform and together with the partners initiate projects.
