The redevelopment of the former N201 into the new village center, with a pleasant ambiance with respect for the authentically village character. called “The Heart”. The Heart will connect the two existing parts of the village center and create new retail space and town apartments around a town square with a parking garage below.

The town of Uithoorn is divided in two by a provincial road, the N210. In 2005 the province decided to move this road, thus creating a good chance for Uithoorn to create an actual village center and connect the two parts of the village. Besides additional retail space and commercial space, town apartments will be developed and realized around a town square with a pleasant ambiance with respect for the authentically village character.

Who will/has developed
Bouwfonds ontwikkeling (formally Rabo Vastgoed) has signed a letter of intent with the municipality to redevelop the village center.
Challenge
Our task consists of the right implementation of the TCN-concept, called ‘The Heart’. This concept will attract consumers from the entire region to Uithoorn’s shopping center. This will turn Uithoorn into an example for other town centers. Important factors in this process will be the right ambiance, (architecture, food & beverage establishments) and accessibility.
Ownership
Most of the site is owned by the municipality. After the zoning procedures have been finalized, the ownership of the site will be transferred to Bouwfonds ontwikkeling and TCN.
